A professional and successful blogger always find ways to generate traffic ways to him/her blog. By organic traffic, means visitors are coming to your blog from different search engines such as Google, Bing etc. To make your blogger blog visible in Google search engine or any other search engine you have to submit your blog sitemap to Google Webmaster tools. Upon many requests I am writing an article about How to Create and Add Sitemap to Google Webmaster tools.
Before Submitting just learn about What is a Sitemap?
A sitemap have two types HTML and XML , Now I am describing an XML one which is basically a text file having your blog pages list which exists on your web log. Web crawlers use this sitemap to discover your blogs and it helps in indexing your posts in Search engine such as Google, Bing.
How To Submit Blogger Sitemap In Google Webmaster Tools
Before we submit our sitemap our blog should be added in Google Webmaster Tools. You can read this article to get help about adding blog in Webmaster Tools.
- Login to your Google Webmaster Tools account and select your desired blog from list.
- On the left side of page click Crawl >> Sitemap, Now click on a red color Button placed in the top right corner saying “ADD/TEST SITEMAP”.
- After clicking on ADD/TEST SITEMAP button a popup box will open after your blog URL, enter the below given code then click Submit Sitemap.
atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=500
- If your blog have more than 500 posts, then you have to add one more site map, simply follow the procedure from step 3 once more but this time add the following code in ADD/TEST SITEMAP text box.
atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=501&max-results=500
